What is a good idea for an independent study in Latin American economics?

I need to take an independent study, two semester course next year because my school does not offer any more spanish classes. I would preferably like to tie in the spanish with business/economics because those interest me very much. What is a good idea for a long-term (full school year) project that would relate to the economics of Latin America?
