Should i break up with boyfriend?

I have been dating him for 8 months. Everything has been going pretty well. We have not gone into any "fights". He's a really good guy, and a mature one too! he respects me and tries to be with me.. But the only thing is that he is a very independent guy, And needless to say.. I think at times almost every girl want's a person to be "there." I try not get into his way for things. So i do hope the best for him.. I try not to think too much. But it's hard not to.. u see... i feel blessed that's he's in my life because i had been cheated and hurt pretty bad in my past relationships. but.... how can i keep this whole independent thing going. he told me that this is his life style.. this is him... he told me to think what i really want,, and call him when i have my final decision.. should i break up with him?sigh.
