Should I wait to put out an album?

I'm a musician. I've been working for about 7 years now, I started when I was 8. A friend of mine talked me into recording a demo, which will be released soon, but what about after that? I feel my voice needs time to mature and grow but I want to keep pushing forward seeing I'm independent. What do you guys think? Should I wait? Or just go for it?
