Why was God's wife Asherah almost edited out of the Bible?

Wow. The guy whose "discovery" they're reporting on need to actually read the Bible. He'll then learn that Asherah is, in fact, mentioned repeatedly in the Bible, particularly in the section ranging from Judges to 2 Chronicles.
